Delhi Govt announces pay hike for Vocational and Samagra Shiksha teachers

The Delhi government has approved a significant salary hike for vocational teachers and those working under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced following a Cabinet meeting on Tuesday.

The decision also extends to teachers engaged at Special Training Centres, which aim to reintegrate children who have either dropped out or never attended school into the formal education system.

Sharing details, the Chief Minister said that around 1,131 vocational teachers in Delhi, who provide skill-based training across various disciplines, will now receive a monthly salary of ₹38,100, up from the earlier range of ₹20,000–₹23,000.

Similarly, salaries of teachers working at 784 centres under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan have been increased from ₹21,000 to ₹35,420 per month.

Gupta noted that the revised pay brings Samagra Shiksha teachers at par with primary and upper primary teachers.

“This is not just a financial decision, but a recognition of the dedication and hard work of teachers who operate in challenging conditions to bring children into the fold of education,” she said.

The Chief Minister added that the hike is expected to strengthen teachers’ financial security and boost morale. “Motivated and satisfied teachers are key to delivering quality education,” she emphasized.

Reiterating the government’s commitment to inclusive education, Gupta said ensuring that no child in Delhi is left out of the education system remains a priority.

“Special Training Centres serve as a lifeline for children who have never been to school or have dropped out. Bringing them back into the mainstream remains a top priority, and teachers play the most crucial role in this effort,” she said.

“Our aim is not just to enrol children in schools, but to inspire them to learn and secure their future,” Gupta added, affirming the government’s focus on continuous reforms and innovation in the education sector.
